Theoretically, if I could provide evidence from multiple sources that my IQ was in the 200 ball park, would it be a good or a bad idea to send it to a college like Harvard? Would they just view it as cocky and annoying, or would they be impressed by it? If you are wondering, my IQ is not actually 200. I'm just curious.

My guess only: it’d be a point of curiosity. But test scores and GPA still would have to be to their standards. It’s not as if a 190 IQ person with a 3.4GPA would have much of a chance…

Useless imo. I mean you could write an essay on it maybe but like I don’t see what it adds at all. They don’t care about IQ.

If you had a 200 IQ, you’d probably be bored out of your mind in high school and already be taking college level classes. And no, if your intelligence level is that high, colleges will go out of their way to recruit you without consideration to GPA. I know a few kids who are geniuses, and they’ve been picked up by top schools w/o a HS diploma.

Colleges are not looking for potential, they are looking for demonstrated ability to accomplish. There is much research that suggests the super high IQs get caught up in intellectual paralysis and it’s IQs in the 135 range that functionally achieve the most. IQ will be meaningless without achievement.

Yeah Mentos you are wrong. My sister has a profoundly gifted IQ and colleges did nothing to actively recruit her. IQ means absolutely nothing unless there in knowledge and achievement to go along with it.

Bright kids can go to college without a high school diploma easily, but they need to have demonstrated ability and achievement, not just potential. For example, my fifteen year old friend is going to Harvard next year; he started his own nonprofit, has published writing, and has been auditing classes at Harvard for several years.

I say that IQ, Mensa-type stuff is irrelevant to college admissions. That alone shows nothing of interest to a college. It’s been discussed at a length on these forums. Unless you have accomplishments, IQ is not in any way a tip factor or even worth mentioning.
