IQ of cc'ers.

I'm inclined to agree with the majority here...I have not taken an IQ test that was serious, nor do I plan to do so; it is much more fun to fantasize that it is impossibly high than actually knowing what is it and feeling constrained by that knowledge. According to my mother's sage wisdom, IQ is only a measure of our capacity to learn, not of our intelligence, per se.

I've taken some of those free IQ tests you can get online; mine comes out radically different everytime. I've never taken a real one though, and I don't particularly care to

do your schools have "gifted" programs? (like in elementary school and middle school?) in my school district, to get into the gifted program you have to take an IQ test so it seems like at least a quarter of all students here take an IQ test.

we did, but they weren't based on IQ but on teacher reccomendations, and they lasted through 6th grade. They meant squat. I wasn't in the program and I'm doing very well in school.

It's too bad your school system bases gifted program entrance on something so indefinite and, frankly, meaningless as IQ scores. In my system, they based it on classroom performance, which seems to be the more intelligent way to do things (no pun intended). I was in our program, but it only went through 5th grade.

mine is 94

a lot of my friends have taken IQ test, and this is what I have noticed. People with high IQ's are much faster at processing and understanding materials, and are much more creative.

Although most people on this site seems to be against IQ test, I do believe that it measures a part of our intelligence. It does measure our capacity and our potential. A person with an IQ of 160 can learn things A LOT quicker than a person with an IQ of 120.

Generally speaking though, students with the IQ in the range of 120~130 are the most successful in the school. Most of them are the "model" students, per se. Students whose IQ is higher than 150 are often the "outcasts". They have hard time socializing and usually don't care too much about school.

Just wanted to share my opinion and what I know with you guys =)

I've taken numerous online IQ tests, but taking into account they are online, Im sure my actual IQ is lower than these numbers. But usually, I get IQ scores in the range of 140~170. The lowest I've gotten was 136, and the highest I've gotten was 180. *

140 is like genius

180 is like hawking. take an actual test. online ones aren't the bit credible

Yeah I mean to get into mensa you need a 126 or 127 or something near there. That makes up the top 2% of all test takers. Based on the replies here from online test, I doubt this many people make up the top 2%

Um...if you think about it though...top 2% means like 1 out of 50 people. Most people on this website would be in the top 2% I think. Also, to get into Mensa, you need like 142+. 126 is too low for mensa.

what's mensa?

it's a society for people in the 98th percentile for IQ. There's another society like it (forget name) even more exclusive- 99th percentile

there are so many societies related to IQ. Some societies only take people who are in top 0.0001% or w/e of the population :P like...over 200 IQ haha.

the first one i took was for gifted, and i was in 3rd grade. it was 169. I took it again in fifth grade and i got 171. recently i took an online test and got 158. i suppose i'm getting stupider...

171??

yeah, probably not

sounds a bit iffy to me, but maybe it is.

I took one (a real one) when I was 10 and got 155. I don't think IQ tests are any measure of a person, but they aren't totally wasteless. I'd really like to get tested just to know. I don't care if it turns out really low or something, I already know how smart I am. It'd just be nice to brag if it turned out really high.

Does anyone know how to go about getting IQ tested?

Are you guys serious about your scores?

A 171 puts you above 99.9998894360% of the population.

If you want to get tested, go see a psychologist or psychometrist.

i'm sorry but the chances of having this many people with scores over 130, much less 150 is incredibly slim.

The reason why people score so well at a young age is IQ relates on how much you know/think at a certain age.

Obviously, when we were young, most of us were gifted at being smarter, etc. etc. Now, as we've "slacked" off, it's catching up to us, so our IQ is probably decreasing.

It's a aspect of your thinking process as compared to your age. As you get older and older it gets harder and harder to do better since you have to score higher and higher.
