So, it has ended. Obama has moved the troops out.

Your opinions? Is it the right move? How will be affected?

I personally believe that war is bad to begin with, but when we entered the war I believed more focus needed to put in Afghanistan than Iraq. I believe the Iraq war was a poor decision.

The Iraq war was for oil. America has an addiction to oil. If we wanted to find Osama, we woulda found him a long time ago. Supposedly, he is between Pakistan and Afghanistan. I split between the war, America is trying way to hard to be the worlds police. But at the same time, we took down a tyrant who was making peoples lives miserable. But, at the cost of forcing Americanism on these people. That’s why the war didn’t go as planned.

The issue I have is. If the soldiers stay for one more year. They will be attacked by terrorist groups, so as the number of soldiers decrease won’t there be a higher rate of people being injured and killed since there is less of them. Making them a bigger target.

I say hallelujah it’s about damn time. Every soldier that we bring home safely is one less family that has to go through what my family (and thousands of others) did.

I think it’s far from over. This “combat over” deal seems a lot like Bush’s “Mission Accomplished” thing to be honest–we are going to be involved there for a long time.

Regardless of whether invading was correct or not, I think that pulling out based off a timetable and not on conditions on the ground was a mistake, though leaving 50,000 troops to train and support may cancel that out. I’m glad less soldiers are in harm’s way, but I hope Obama did not leave the job half-done and insurgents take over. Hopefully the Iraqi forces can take them.

Does anyone else think this war will define a new era in history?

Nothing has changed. Obama is just doing some politiking to get his poll numbers up. The name of the troops has simply changed from “combat forces” to “transition forces”. The US presence will continue in Iraq and Afghanistan indefinitely, because US politicians clearly love war.
