Thank you Kdog that is very helpful,

I visited my local IRS office today, 5/6 and was told the reason I do not have access to DRT is because the IRS has not completely processed my Joint Tax return. I filed electronically on 2/23, IRS partially processed the return on 3/13, but is has not posted as of yet. According to the IRS any filing with a refund will get priority processing because the IRS does not want to owe interest. Filings with an owed amount (in my case)will begin processing on/around 5/15.

You filed earlier than we did, and we also owed $, but we were able to use the DRT within three weeks of our filing (which is what the FAFSA people told us). Two things I have learned is that 1) if you owe $, send it in as soon as you can because they have to process your payment which will get you into their system; and 2) if the address the IRS has on file for you is different than what is on your income tax return (ours is one of those), then things won’t match up and your information will not come up. I figured this out when I looked at a refund check we had and compared it to our name and address on our income tax return and there were some slight differences; i.e, S instead of South, so I put everything in on the DRT just like they had it on the check and that’s when I was finally able to retrieve the information. I’ve done this two years now and have been successful.
