IRVINE decisions

darn... hey that is nice.. i also got 8000 for UCI grants :D darn... UCI is so generous... anyone got Cal Grant? I don't have Cal Grant :(

Aerolite, how much cal grant did you get?

I got 9k grant and 6k in loans but for some reason i didn't get cal crant

No Cal Grant for me. :

How many of you are still waiting for UCI?? I have nothing from UCI.

Still waiting. its been over a month and a half - still nothing.

I don't have Cal grant too. I think UCI grant is the combination of Cal grant and UCI grant. In UCR, they state UCR grant and Cal grant separately. But the total from UCI and UCR are almost the same. They are so generous.

I probably wont' get anything since my GPA isn't all that strong. But I do have the VA scholarship to fall back on - 100% free tuition!

i think you are right shirleyxy, so far no one from UCI got cal grant.

UCI is trying so hard to look "hot" by combining its own grant with Cal grant :D

But why don't we get Cal Grant for UCI? UCSD offer Cal Grant and so does UCR...

I don't think that's true shirley. I didn't bother sending my GPA verification form because they were going to use my HS GPA. After I made the decision to go to a CC after I graduated high school, senioritis struck me hard...So I know I don't qualify for Grant A. ;p And Grant B was out of question because of my parents' income. Anyway it's a complicated situation since I'm a sophomore transfer, and I didn't have enough units completed in the Fall to utilize my (way better) CC GPA instead.

So unless my UCI grant is compensating for whatever I should have been getting for Cal Grant, it's probably not good to assume that the UCI grant is combined with the Cal Grant.

Someone posted the same question on AnteaterForum, so the responses are from UCI students themselves:
http://www.anteaterforum.com/showthread.php?t=25419
Someone from UCI said

*EDIT: Well I guess both shirley and I are correct (haha)? Someone on AEF posted this:

one makes up the other. if you dont get cal grant UCI grant takes it over and visa versa..

I called cal grant and they said i was not offered cal grant. You can call this number to check your cal grant status: 1-888-224-7268

If I was not offered Cal grant, why did I get Cal grant at UCR? That's weird.

BTW, Kevin, how to check financial aid info at SD? thanks!

I got calgrant for UCSD and I got Cal Grant B in my CCC already... but UCI does not offer any cal grant.

UCR offers 4.7K UCR grant and 6K Cal grant to me. UCI offers 8K UCI grant. That's about the same. So I think it doesn't matter.

log into the UCSD admission status website, you should have found it.

how did you recieve your grant? did you apply or was it a high GPA

Any new admissions from UCI???? What are they waiting for???? they started on March 1st and now its April 22th It is not reasonable because it is pretty obvious that they do not even read the essays, and make their decisons purely based on your GPA

how did you recieve your grant? did you apply or was it a high GPA

It's not scholarship. Therefore, it depends on income.
