If I'm going to major in Computer Science, which school would be more beneficial in terms of getting a job after I graduate?

definitely Purdue
CS in Purdue is much better ;)

Thanks. Any other opinions?

CS at UCI is also excellent. Purdue is also excellent, but it is not much better…certainly not enough to pay significantly more if that’s the case.

My nephew graduated from UCI in CS and went to work for Google.

Are you instate for either? How will you be paying? what are your parents saying?

They are both out of state schools for me so money is not an issue. My parents told me to choose the school that will benefit me the most in the future.

There are a lot of internships for CS student in the Irvine location for Google. If you go to UCI you might have an edge there. When I was looking at both of these schools for my kid, Purdue is an excellent engineering school but seems like the internships and jobs are more related to the car/aerospace industries.

Exactly! That’s what happened with my nephew.

For CS, I’d go with UCI because of the location: 1° professional opportunities and 2° Irvine and SoCA > West Lafayette and Western Indiana.
