Hi, so I just registered for spring quarter and as of now it is a 18 credit schedule. I am wondering if that too much or not, so far I'm taking General Chemistry 1, Calculus 1, American Pop Song, and a three-credit Science & Art of digital photography. I'm a freshmen and I've dealt with 16 and 17 credit schedules but the thing is my 17 credit schedule consisted of a 2 credit dance class. I really want to take these classes, but I'm wondering if I can handle the course load. Any thoughts from your experiences?

Eh, you should be fine. Just remember to use your time wisely.

I took 18 units and worked 15 hours a week and also made time for a social life. That was my first semester too. You should be fine as long as you manage your time wisely like icedragon said. Time management is key.

Taking calc and chem in one semester can be tough but it is doable. Like the above posters said, use your time wisely. Also, really consider those other two courses and their workloads. Just because something is a gen ed or “easy” elective doesn’t mean that there won’t be a lot of writing assignments or other assignments that will still take time to complete. I made the mistake of taking a gen ed one semester that involved a lot of writing, like a research paper almost every 2 weeks, on top of 3 monster science courses. Needless to say, that semester took a lot of my social life away.

If you think you can handle it go for it. Enroll in all of them and then when add drop week comes evaluate the syllabus for each course and decide whether or not the workload is manageable. Hope this helps!

Thanks guys! I think I’m a lot more confident in taking the 18 credits, like all of you guys said, I just need to be time prepared.
