<p>My Why Duke essay is 491 words, two paragraphs. Almost a page single spaced. Is this too long?</p>
<p>I hope not haha. My Why Duke essay is currently 659 words and my “research” essay is over 700. I don’t really believe it is about word length. As long as you keep your essay on focus I’m sure everything will be fine. Admissions people probably don’t want to receive a full 5 paragraph essay though.</p>
<p>They’ve probably seen a lot of 2 paragraph essays full of trite, hackneyed reasons they see in probably at least a third of the essays. I’m sure they’d rather read something longer but has many good reasons specific to the school.</p>

Mine is concise, about 198 words…</p>
