Is a 710 bad on US History?

I saw my scores, and I got a 660 on Literature and a 710 on US History. I'm not planning on sending in my Lit scores or retaking it, but I thought a 710 on US History was pretty good. Then I saw the percentile: 79th percentile. Would this 710 look bad when applying to Harvard, UPenn, and Cornell? Keep in mind Im' most likely going to be getting an 800 on the Math II test.

Abridged question: Would a 710 on US History and an 800 on Math II look bad when applying to Ivies?

This depends. What do plan on majoring in? Science or History? If science, the 710 is fine. If history, keep in mind the 700+ is a good score (and percentiles don’t matter), and 750+ is competitive for Ivies.

I’m majoring in Business/Economics

So I assume your taking the Math II in October (after CC stalking you I found you were a rising senior)? IMO, the U.S. history looks a tad weak, but the 800 in math would def make up for it, since math has more to do with economics than history. Are you well-versed in any languages? You could replace the U.S. History with a french or spanish subject test.

I’m taking SAT II’s in November (SAT Reasoning again in October). I am taking French, but I won’t be prepared to take a test like the SATs until I finish French 4 at the end of my senior year, so I can’t take the test. I might just take Math II and retake US History. Does taking only 2 Subjects look bad? I notice most students applying take 3 of them.

Eh, two won’t look bad. Most applicants have two, three just gives a competitive advantage. it’s just that most ppl on CC have like all 20! Don’t worry, just retake U. S. history. Good luck! Where are you planning on applying?

I’m applying to: Harvard, UPenn, Cornell, Lehigh, NYU, NYU-Abu Dhabi, Lafayette, PennState and Rutgers.

Great! The 710 would only hurt in the first three, but if you get 750+ in November you’ll be fine.

what about 720 world history haha

lol there’s no difference when considering 10 points. it’s similar to the difference between 790 and 800: negligible.

No, anything 700+ is good.
