Is a 730 a good score on the math 2 SAT

So I just received scores for my subject test, and I was wondering if a 730 was a good score on the math 2 test if I want to apply to competitive colleges (UVA for example)?

It is a fairly good score. For top engineering schools, it may not be competitive enough though. Other than that, it should be fine.

It’s a very good score. The math 2 test is taken by students who typically are high achievers in math, so a 730 seems much lower than it actually is. It’s a fine score. Also, the OP did not mention engineering and even still, engineers don’t have to be perfect matheticians when they are teenagers

That is 74th percentile.

^ No it’s not?

(Perhaps the 2015 percentiles would be the most accurate, but there’s no way a score goes from 55th to 74th percentile from one year to the next…)

Oops! I was looking at the wrong column. So at 55th percentile perhaps the OP should strongly consider re-taking

FYI. 740 was the 25th percentile at MIT. 730 would be below admission average for top engineering schools.

FYI. 740 was the 25th percentile at MIT. 730 would be below admission average for top engineering schools. By no mean SAT2 Math2 score can be a measurement for “perfect” Mathematician. Not even with 800 as it only requires knowledges up to pre-calculus which is just an average high school senior level.

I would probably retake if you are considering major in engineering or a math field. A large majority have 800s. 800 is ONLY 81 percentile.

I just checked MIT’s admission stat from 2014, the SAT2 math mid 50 is now 770-800.

I don’t know which top schools you are thinking but Harvey Mudd College Student Profile 2014 is
SAT2 Math mid 50 is 760 - 800

I am planning to go into business, not engineering or math. Thanks for all the help!
