Hi, I'm a 13 year old interested in applying to Exeter, Andover, Milton, and SPS.
I was just wondering, is A Better Chance worth it, or should I just apply independently...?

I don’t know much about A Better Chance (ABC), but it looks like a great program. You should apply, and see if you’re lucky enough to be selected.

Yes, apply with ABC, if you qualify.

Their website says:
"The Selection Committee will begin reviewing completed applications after November 1st and will determine whether or not candidates will make it to the next phase of the A Better Chance application process. Those candidates who do make it to the next round will receive “referral letters.” These letters will list the schools to which A Better Chance has sent your child’s application. Candidates being referred to both day school and boarding options will receive two separate referral letters. In most regions, day school referrals occur earlier so those letters will come first. All boarding school referral decisions will be mailed in mid-January. If a candidate is either denied or waitlisted, those letters will be sent at any time beginning in November. "

So if they don’t choose you, you would know by early November, which still leaves you plenty of time to apply on your own.

Also, fill out the forms for each school you are interested in December, and if they don’t refer you to a particular school that is on your list, send it off directly to the school in January after ABC has told you which school(s) they have referred your application to.

Having ABC refer your application will help you stand out. Take advantage of it.
