<p>D1 toured, interviewed, and loves the school, but her "Why GW" essay is about half the length of the 500 word essay. She thinks making the essay longer will make it weaker. Is there any downside to turning in an essay that's significantly shorter than the maximum length?</p>
<p>Both my daughters turned in shorter Why GW essays, and both were accepted (attend and love it there). I think it is more important that what she says is strong then long. Just have her make sure that she talks about the university along with DC.</p>
<p>My “Why GW” was short. It wasn’t my top choice, and I didn’t put much effort or length into that essay (or the rest of the application). There were several other essays my year, and I sent my “main college essay” which was very strong as well.</p>
