<p>How long does the supplemental essay on the commonapp have to be? It says less than 500 words, so I'm assuming that it can't be too short, like 100-300 words short, either. Currently I have a mini essay at 500 words for the "What makes me want to go to GWU" one. Is it too long? Too short? How long do you think it should be? Thanks in advance. </p>

<p>One more question. I am not a political com or journalism major, should I write the other supp essay anyway? What do you guys think? Thanks</p>

<p>If you're around 500 words, that's find. I wouldn't worry too much about the numbers. I think you're in good condition. Since the other essay isn't required of you, don't do it.</p>

<p>Will it be a detriment if I'm just applying using the official website's application and I'm not even sending in the Common Application essay?</p>

<p>No, GW takes both applications. None is preffered over the other.</p>
