Is a work study program frowned upon by admissions?

Hi everyone!

I’m currently a high school senior, my first day was yesterday. I’m enrolled in College Success, which is a college credit bearing course through a local community college, English 101/102, and College Spanish 2. Last year I took APUSH, AP Bio, as well as College Spanish. This year I have an opening in my schedule near the end of the day where I could leave two periods early if my employer signs a work study sheet so that I can work instead of sit in the study hall room. Is this something that admissions will see as “lazy” for leaving school two periods early and working?

So you’re taking 4 classes opposed to 6.
Can you take any other classes besides going to work?
I would ask your counselor. If he/she will rate your schedule not as “Most rigorous” or “Very Rigorous” because you chose to work instead of taking classes, then it’s a bad idea.

Otherwise, doesn’t really matter.

What kind of schools are you applying to?

I’m applying to both four year private and public schools.

I believe the question meant Ivies or regional Us.

How badly do you need the money?

How responsible a job do you hold?

Ask your own guidance counselor about the kinds of colleges and universities that have admitted students from your high school who have followed the work-study option. At Happykid’s old HS, lots of seniors did this sort of thing. It wasn’t unusual at all.
