Is accounting a good degree for being a Manager of a store/company? Or does a degree in Management make a huge difference when it comes to employment in this type of job?

Accounting will give you some background to running a business but so will lots of other majors. Psychology would help with customers. Marketing, advertising, general business would all be obvious majors.

I wouldn’t take a management major if you’re straight out of hs. You need to work on your basic business and people management skills first, ideally by working in a store/company.

What sort of store/company do you want to work for? An art major might be ideal for an art supplies or craft store. Sport Science for a sports or skateboard store.

I feel you need to think more about what kind of company/store you’d like to work for. What do you want to sell or offer to people?

I think that if you get a degree in accounting you should work in accounting. You could earn more money, at least up front and maybe career wise, depending on how well you perform.

If you want to work in retail, study a more general business major. Minor/ concentrate or major in marketing and/or finance.
