Is ACT 31 enough for an international student?

I am a high school student from China. I stayed in the U.S. for my junior year as an exchange student. My ACT score is 31 with the following subscores:
English 34, Math 33 (I have gotten 36 before), Reading 24, Science 32 and writing 8 (I have gotten 10 before). I think I have a pretty decent extra-curriculum.

Since it is pretty hard to retake the test in China (I need to go to Hong Kong to take it), do you think my current ACT score is already satisfying for an international student like me applying to the Ivies, like Harvard?

I can retake the test in December in Hong Kong. Do you suggest me to take it again, I mean, if you take all the travel and expense into account?

Thank you! Xie Xie!

31 on ACT for someone who is going to apply to Harvard is a way below the average in terms of scores, to say the truth.

It is below their 25th percentile...

According to the official SAT-ACT Concordance Table, a 31 on the ACT translates to a 1380 CR+M SAT score, which is quite low for the Ivies, especially for international students.

I think you should at least get 34 or above to get into Ivy League.

^

It isn't necessary, no. A 32 should suffice for the 'lower Ivies', and it will definitely suffice for HYP if you have other stand-out qualities.

I think that 24 reading subscore might raise an eyebrow... Did you run out of time?

It would probably be in your best interest to retake the test and get all scores above 30. When I applied to colleges two years ago I went cheap and I applied primarily to colleges that waived the application fee and that I felt were "matches". You know what? That was silly! Investing a few hundred dollars at that point in time would have opened up a completely new world of opportunities for me, and while a few hundred dollars would have been a significant amount of money for me, investing them in college applications would have not broken me.

By the way, posting the same question in 6 different forums is not very well appreciated.

tetrisfan) score of 32 is like 2100-ish in SAT, and I don't think it would suffice. Besides, schools in the northeastern region, which include Ivy League schools, prefer SAT to ACT.

^ That's a myth.

You should be fine
