Hi, just wondering, is alcohol edu compulsory for your school or only for those who have trouble with drinking?

For my school, it is. I took it, passed it, and never thought much of it afterwards.

And I hardly drink.

They make you go to alcohol school! Wow.

It was at my school. I’m not sure how they would identify those that have trouble to do it that way.

yeah its mandatory at my school. i dont drink- zero tolerance. passed part 1, waiting for part two to show up in my email…

Hahaha, we don’t have anything like that here. I had friends that had to do it though. I heard it was a bunch of bull. I don’t really know what that’s even meant to do. I mean, I understand the basic principle, but I don’t think it would be all that helpful, personally.

I actually used one of the methods they suggested to trick car keys away from drunk friends, and there were a few other tips that have come in handy. I suspect the kind of kids who paid enough attention to remember any of the information in that thing were the kids that didn’t want to do much drinking anyway. Now that I am 21 and it is a possibility for me to drink I kind of wish I could remember what the hell else they said.

Yup, we all had to do it as freshmen. I agree with Emaheevul07–the ones that paid attention are the ones that probably didn’t really need it anyway.

Yea, btw, you can still log in and check the chapters out.

yep, we all had to do it.

It had that feature where you could calculate a ballpark BAC level based on body weight and number of drinks consumed. As freshman we could still log on, so we used to play the “How outrageous was my BAC last night?” game, so really I think it encouraged our drinking more than anything.

Yeah but I doubt the effectiveness, feels more like something the school makes you do just to say you’ve done it.

My friend actually pointed out the effectiveness of it the other night:

Friend1: You can have 1 beer if you’re not driving for more than an hour
Friend2: Fine I’ll leave at 11, but if my mom kills me it’s your fault

My other friend then pointed out that without the alcoholedu we wouldn’t have known the amount of time it took to process the whole drink.

It’s literally the only time someone has pointed it out not to make fun of it.

It’s required at my school but obviously it’s not of much help…
