Is an AP score of 4 worth mentioning?

oh bulinskimom, how naive you are…

Only 6’s count.

I don’t think they can see your AP scores. Correct me if I am wrong.

Just slip it in there so they won’t instantly reject you. If you make it somewhat ostensible, it’s an instant rejection!

Definitely DO NOT put it on. I mean really, a 4?

That’s like getting an SAT score under 2350, or going to Africa and not curing AIDS: It’s for DUMB people

A 4 is quite good, feel free to put it on. If it is a 3, then prob. don’t.

I’m suprised at how rude people here are being, in a typical blow-off CC fashion. People have questions, and want either real respectful answers or no answers.

so your saying dont put a 3 in even if i took it as an honors course in junior year and decided on my own to take the AP test? and ya seriously a simple yes or no would do, how would any of you know if thats a make or break answer anyway?

hmm, the best way to approach it is that if you have enough 5s, then just dont put it on unless you have to. but otherwise, a 4 at least wont hurt you unless its in certain subjects so you shouldnt worry much.

Only on CC…

People at my school go “YES!!! I PASSED!!!”

for former information and remember that this year the Common Application (used by HUNDREDS of colleges) requests self-reported AP test scores from all applicants. A score of 4 on an AP test taken by a junior is fine in a world in which many college applicants don’t take AP tests until they are juniors or seniors. A score of 3 will gain you college credit at a lot of colleges, so don’t worry about it.

I agree with Duper. Don’t put it on your app unless it’s a 6. If you want to get in to HYPSBCM, or frankly any school in the top 100 in the nation, sorry, but you’re not getting in unless your AP scores are 6s.

kidding

Yes, list a 4.

Oh come on, this is a legitimate question - seeing every single chance thread with “I got 10 5’s on 9 AP tests” can be misleading.
A 4 is absolutely worth mentioning. Best of luck with admissions =)

a 4 is totally worth mentioning. i would put a 3. and a 2. even a 1 because at least i took the test.

honestly, sometimes these posts make me rethink wanting to apply to a top school because many people here are slightly number obsessed and cant take a little bit of failure…or not even failure, just slight imperfection. i dont know if i can deal with that! this is not directed to the poster, because yes, with everyone here ragging on about how they all got 5’s, it’s a legitimate question to ask

But what’s all this “AP scores don’t matter”? Could your curriculum really be that rigorous if you don’t score a 4 or 5 on the test (most AP tests are really easy)? Isn’t reporting a 2 just undermining your app… hey! I got an “A+” in my AP class… and then I totally failed the AP test. What’s that saying about the rigor of the class?

THEY’RE ALL JOKING
geez
a 4 is fine

The following info comes directly from the College Board website:

"AP Exam grades are reported on a 5-point scale as follows:

5 Extremely well qualified*
4 Well qualified*
3 Qualified*
2 Possibly qualified*
1 No recommendation**

Qualified to receive college credit or advanced placement
*No recommendation to receive college credit or advanced placement"

So CB considers a “4” means “well qualified” to do college-level work. That’s not gong to hurt you.

lmao.
wow…
Dude on the two exams i’ve taken so far, i got a 2 and a 3. while i know i did poorly and i can do better, i’m still reporting the 3

I have taken 10 ap tests and gotten 4’s and 5’s on all of them so I’m reporting the 4’s… I know I can’t really say much about 3’s and lower though…
