I viewed my AP scores this morning and received the following:
Lit-5
Bio-4
Stats-4
USH-4
Will these scores hurt my chances? Should I just not send my scores? I'm worried sick. :(

Not at all. And you don’t even need to send any AP scores. Just self report them.

My suggestion is to not send them and not report them. My son did not have all 5s but just did not report any scores until he was accepted at a college. By the way, those aren’t bad scores at all, but I don’t think it will help you to report the 4s.

I would self-report a few of them.

Lit. It’s a 5, no brainer.

Bio. Only 5% got a 5, a 4 is still pretty damn good.

I would self-report the other two as well because a 4 is still really good! Top school don’t expect all 5’s. But if you’re worried you can leave them out. Definitely send Lit & Bio though, those two are your best.

The real issue is the correlation between your school grades and AP scores. If they are not consistent, adcoms may suspect easy grading at your school.

4s are great… why the hell are you “worried sick.” If you’re paranoid, don’t report them - it’s as simple as that.

Definitely not. I had a 4 in APUSH, 4 in World, and 3 in Lang (didn’t report) and still gained admission to my top choices, among others. I wouldn’t worry about it.

release that the AP exams are just for credit, and colleges, depending on which you apply to, only take a sparse glance among the scores.

I scrubbed on the APUSH exam and got a 4 but got an A in the course (& an academic award in it)…Will colleges think my school just has major grade inflation?

I don’t really want to report it but I feel as though the adcoms will wonder why I didn’t tell them one of my AP scores.

How long to admissions officers spend on the applications? Do they have time to wonder if there’s grade inflation if they only “glance” over ap scores?

Haha I guess not. So would they just think I didn’t do that well on the exam and it wouldn’t hurt my chance at admissions?

At my college, all they did was send me a piece of paper way after I was accepted and enrolled with my scores and handwritten stars or “N/A” marks (the stars indicating credit and N/A meaning no credit). I bet they barely even looked at my scores for my admission process (especially since none of my senior scores were in when I was accepted).

You’ll be fine! :)

Etshine, I got a 4 on the exam but an A in apush too! Idk whether to send it or not… :/

Yes. A 4 (only one lower than the highest score) will prevent you from gaining admission to all colleges. If you’re lucky, you MIGHT be able to enroll at a community college…

Thank you ilovelife. I now know that my only hope is go to my local CC! Sigh xP

But really, I know a 4 isn’t a bad score. I’m just wondering if it will hurt my chances (since many other applicants will only have 5s) and if so how much

Hurt your chances where?

And if you don’t send your scores, they’ll think you got THREES or worse!!! So send your scores, and relax. Not sending your scores when you took the class means that you either did not take the AP exam after taking the class (no confidence or school doesn’t make you take it), or you bombed. And a 4 is not bombing.

No problem haha but really, colleges don’t even require AP scores when applying. The only way a 4 can “hurt” you is if the college only accepts 5 as credit and you have to take the course again. But then again, you can always take placement exams!
