Is anyone familiar with how the VFW Voice of Democracy scholarship program?

I just found out that I'm one of my district's 3 winners. I know only one of them is able to move up to the national competition for 16,000-30,000 (or something like that), but the 2 other district winners who make 2nd and 3rd place only receive a physical award like a plaque or certificate, right?

bump (10 char)

the other winners will also receive money, if your a regional or state winner that is. You will get a grand and a free trip to DC. They will get anywhere from 500-800 for getting 2nd or 3rd on the state level.

I was in the younger program, uh, Patriotic Pen? I made it to District but didn’t win. I won $300 just by getting that far.

Well I got 1st place in my chapter and $100, but I think we have 3 or 4 other chapters in our district, so I probably won’t be going to Washington since theirs are probably better than mine. Oh well, the award itself was nice.

Hey I applied for this, too. But, we won’t even be notified about how we did at the district level until January :S Bummer. What did you think of the topic?
