one person? GREAT GOAL!!
it might be difficult :)
j/k

they have an environmental engineering major which in most colleges is a subset of civil

what is the "low GPA" of your friend?

did anybody find anyone willing to go to UCM?
We r finding it funny now, but i am sure it will a top college in a few years. More than a few actually, but it will get there.

if not even 10% of acceptees attend, im wondering what the acceptance percentage will be next year.

anybody planning to go to the bobcat day at UCM? I am going hope to see u guys there.

where do u live freebird?
are you gonna go to UCM?

BTW
yesterday i went to a meeting with UCM representatives, and told us there is gonna be 50 transfer students only.
therefore, most of the upper division classes will have about 3 students per teacher... :D

i live about 45 mins. from ucm.
I will go for their bobcat day, but may not join UCM.

ooh i live 10 minutes from Merced :) i go to merced community college

I had a 3.43 and I got accepted to Merced...

3.43?? :D
I have a 3.1 and got in also

i heard they were hoping for 2000 students and only got 500 to accept admittance this year.

Aww man, that's so sad... I know a couple of ppl who are going...

UCM's faculty members seem so top-notched... especially in Engineering... all from major universities like MIT, CALtech, and such... I would've gone if I were an engineering major

i got into ucla, ucsd, ucd, uci, etc. (all the uc's) and usc and im goin to ucm...

starry, what made you decide on ucm?

WHAT? you are choosing UCM over UCB?
i have the same question as gspsiliconvalley... i live 5 minutes from Merced, and I prefer to travel 6 hrs south to UCSB!

I basically narrowed down my choices to UCLA and UCM. I never liked the atmosphere of UCB because of the living conditions after the dorms. Now, I chose UCM for many reasons. My brother also recommended UCM to me and he went to UCB and is now in med school. First of all, I would be in the first class. As valedictorian of the high school class, I could be a top student at UCM, while i might be pushed down in a top tier school that UCLA is. I would be in the pioneering class and could begin the first clubs and organize the first student government. I could get internships easier because there would not be as many students competing. I would be able to get into the UCDC program easier. I will be doing an internship all 4 years at the congressman's office here. Plus, I live near UCM. I would be saving on expenditures. I can save that money to spend on law school, and i would like to go to NYU. Many of my friends are going there as well. Plus, UCM is very high-tech and the professors are great. There will be small class sizes.

my friend decided to go to ucm, but only cuz he got rejected from all the other ucs

UCM, is going to be cool, all the poeple who reject it just because its new might regret their decision later. I hope so, because I am joining UCM and have given up some top colleges to go there. I am sure it will be good.
