...is anyone on this forum transferring to UC Merced. I only ask cuz I haven't heard a peep about Merced, and tbh it's not THAT bad a school. I mean if you think about it, it's brand new, all the buildings and stuff are nice, its close to yosemite, it has a small student body (which means smaller classes, easier to get into classes, and easier to make a name for youself). I mean it can't be sooooo bad that not a single person who checks this forum is willing to go there.

All of the people going to those “less prestigious” campuses are intimidated by people like you who got into UCLA AND UCB

:P

^ I think my little brother is going there next year.

@zpaintballer: but this forum isnt intended to intimidate anyone, its here to help all those who wish to transfer to a UC, and UCM is definitely a UC, and im certainly not here to intimidate anyone, just to learn and help as much as i possibly can.

@Trasferuc: nice! Im actually trying to convince a few of friends that are trying to go to CSUs next year, to actually choose UCM, UCR, UCSC instead.

^ UC Riverside is really an underrated school. If it wasn’t for the terrible heat, I think it could rise up to UCI and UCD in no time.

UCM is good for two reasons, one my parents get a discount because we will have three kids at a UC…talk about expensive. Two, its a brand-spanking new school. You will be apart of creating Highlander tradition and heritage. Hell, one day you could have a building named after you…talk about cool. (For some reason that has always been a personal dream of mine.)

I have thought about that. Making your mark on a nascent school like that could be awesome.

UCM has acol mascot too, the Bobcats!! Second only to the California Golden Bears!!

i’m a UC Merced student for 2 more weeks then transferring to UCLA next year. i hated it here last year, but this year it grew on me a little. there’s lots of opportunities to start clubs and organizations here if youre into that. i helped create the radio club and was an online DJ, which hopefully i’ll continue to do at UCLA but i heard their station got into trouble this year

^ Grrrrr Bobcats! Making your mark on the world would be cool, kinda like getting in a history book for a good reason like creating vast economic development in Africa thereby saving millions upon millions of lives.

Ya, it would be cool like that.

yeah it would be cool, when i was in HS, some kid came back to visit his former teacher (my current teacher at the time) and they were talking and the student was talking about UCM (he was part of the first class) and said that he done some work there (i dont remember hearing any TOO impressive) and he had gotten a building or something over there named after him, which is pretty cool!!

there’s only 3 buildings (not including the dining commons, dorms, and trailerpark offices), so i doubt he had a building named after him here

What is cool about UCM…is you can see who exactly is on the Dean’s List!

LOL i said or something hahaha, this was a long time ago, its a very foggy memory haahahah

^It called High School for a reason…

Wow that was a terrible joke, hopefully someone get it.

lol i got that, took a sec, but i got it

USR and UCSC are pretty prestigious, I have a friend that got into ucla and cal but got denied from those two (No kidding)

*** is USR? your friend probably applied for majors that he or she didnt do the pre-requisites for or something. a friend of mine got rejected from UCSC but got into other UCs because he applied for business management economics and currently hasnt done any economics related courses

[USRobotics - 56K Internal and External Modems, Gigabit Ethernet Networking: Choose a site](http://www.usr.com/)

Lol I meant UCR not USR mah baddd :D

I wouldn’t say that just because he got rejected from those schools means that they’re prestigious. I got into all the UC’s I applied to, but got rejected by SDSU. Not to offend anyone, but I would definitely not call SDSU prestigious.
