<p>I just did... through EMAIL. I didn't even apply! But I guess they feel bad for me because I only applied to UCDavis and UCLA but I didn't get in them :( So did anyone else get a Congratulations e-mail from UCMERCED? I think this is interesting.. I haven't heard bad about it..but I also haven't heard too much about it...</p>
<p>It's my understanding that every Calif. resident who applies and is eligible is guaranteed to get into at least one UC. Since you didn't get into the ones you requested and Merced's new, the acceptance you received makes sense. During the app process, I remember reading that other UC campuses may make contact/offers. So, congratulations! :) Check it out! May be a good thing and I heard housing's very good.</p>

<p>To clarify, one is only guaranteed a slot at one UC if one applies AND is in the top 4% of their graduating class.</p>

<p>I got one too. I only applied to UCLA and didn't get in.</p>
<p>spectrez, that's not true. Everyone who is UC eligible who is applied is guarenteed a spot at a UC, any UC. In the old days you could only apply to one, and if you didn't get into that one, one of the others would accept you. Now you can apply to any UCs you want, but if they all reject you, UC Merced will send you a "congrats" email.</p>

<p>yeah my friend got accepted to UCMerced without applying. UCMerced gave him a full ride though.</p>
