Is anyone visiting Skidmore this weekend?

I'm taking my junior D to tour Skidmore on Monday morning. We are a bit freaked out about the really cold weather--but it will be an acid test to see if my southern child can bear upstate New York.

Any other visitors?

We're having a particularly nasty cold snap this week in the NE. Temperature is going to be around 20 degrees in Saratoga Springs on Monday.
I went to SUNY Oswego - that's the town with 10 feet of snow. And I'm having trouble with this weather.
Sure you don't want to visit the campus during Easter/spring break??
Trust me- it stays cold upstate until mid April.

Ouch! We can't come during spring break because we have other visits planned. I have just come back from REI with hand warmers and foot warmers, and we have our long underwear and layers to wear.

Anything else we should know about?

Very few people in Saratoga Springs wear long underwear! Bring warm socks - not the little ankle ones that sit below your sneakers. Be sure to have something to cover ears and warm gloves and you will be fine.

I'm not visiting, nor do I have any advice for the cold weather, but my brother went to Skidmore (about ten years ago) and loved it! So I hope you enjoy your visit, whether you're looking at it as a top choice, or a safety, or whatever.

hah. long underwear. I find it very uncomfortable. LOL.

Hm. I live in NY, about 1-2 hours below Saragota Springs maybe?

uhhhh. You're daughter must have tights or leggings right? I love wearing footless tights in the winter because they are more comfortable than...long underwear...and are completely and totally invisible under fitted jeans and such. Plus it enables me to wear my beloved skirts on milder days (40 degreesish). Anyways, to prevent coldness I subscribe the following:
--Tights (under the jeans)
--darkwash jeans
--fuzzy slipper socks
--Cute boots so that you can't see the fuzzy slipper socks
--camisole
--thin, slim fitting white tee shirt
--long sleeved sweater OR a cute shirt with a cozy cardigan over it.
--coat. I find a peacoat works well for me through the winter, but you might like a heavier winter coat better.
--If necessary, a light fleece jacket (northface?) over your sweater and underneath the coat.
--leather or fleece gloves. I like leather b/c its easier to grip things
--cute hat
--they have these AMAZINGLY adorable earmuffs at JCrew. But unless they are that cute, earmuffs can be pretty.....unattractive. haha Just wear a hat that covers your ears

Its better to be warm and look like a dork than be freezing and look like an idiot. At least if you're not used to the weather, lol.
