Is anyone who get admitted not going to attend?

Ya…I prbly wont be attending either. However, I wont know for sure until April 1st. Though, as of now, I will prbly be attending Dartmouth. I love Duke tho!

I will not.
I`m either going to The Ohio State University or SUNY Buffalo
because they both gave me full tuition.

I applied to Duke on a whim (I actually really like the school),
but truth be told, my parents would never let me go .

Nah I’m from Florida in the USA.

@DREWALL
If I was able to give up my spot to someone else directly I would.
I applied for the thrill and the fact that they had a good basketball team
Shoot me, I know.

Now that I got in – I feel bad.
Seeing how I didn’t even really take the application seriously
( I didn’t submit additional essays, recommendation or have an interview. I just filled out the Common app that I had for another school and gave in my Art Portfolio)
but yeah, it’s people like me that screw it up for people that really
want to go to Duke.

But I hope a spot clears up for you. I really do .

Stay optimistic.

marimelo21,

you HAVE to go to ohio state. It is such an amazing school, and it’s so well respected. SUNY is good, but OSU = the shiz

I was never going to go to Duke for many reasons… I didn’t even go to the rep visit when they came to my school… idk why I applied in the first place… hey, at least I’m not taking anyone’s spot.

eatsalot.
They think I will be much better off coming out of Cornell than Duke ( in terms of job opportunities)

^^^ Not unless you’re pursuing Hotel Management.

My parents are pushing the Ivies, so I guess we’ll see. The only way I’ll go to another school is if I 1) get into Dartmouth (HYP are out since I didn’t get into Stanford) or 2) manage to squeeze a larger financial aid package out of another school I’ve already gotten into.

But I love Duke. I’m just having trouble convincing my parents.

6 people got in from my school and I think at most 2 people will actually go.

i just hope to get in!!! God damnit i have to wait till mid-may or longer before i find out

@shanny2892

that sucks, i’m sorry. :frowning:
i would ask your parents why they are against you going to duke, and then talk it out with legit reasons why you want to go to duke.

good luck!

@drewall

lol i applied to ivies too, but they are ranked lower than duke…

^^Yeah and to Shanny2892 as well…Duke is ranked higher anyway.

Oh, and I got accepted into Duke but I’m not likely going there either …

There’s not that much a chance of me attending… I want to study business/economics or chemistry, but I have a strong lean towards the more business stuff, and am interested in chem as a minor. Considering that Duke’s econ isn’t quite the best (but their chemistry IS top notch…), and that their financial aid award was nowhere even close to what I was hoping for, I will probably not be attending Duke. If they managed to scrounge up 10k in grants though…

hey mewowmix0669 where else did you apply?

It’s a long list… I’ll just say that I’m waiting to hear back from 6 more ivies. I’m in Chicago (10k), WUSTL, USC, Vanderbilt, Dartmouth (LL), Penn State, and Drexel. I got rejected @ Stanford and MIT.

Too bad NOBODY except Chicago is giving anything other than loans (which never total above 5k…)and the work study. Do they seriously expect my parents to pony up some 200+k over the next 4 years? We’ve got some money, but I think we can realistically afford around… half that? I’m lucky in that my parents are willing to pay for it no matter what, but we’re going to be in some serious financial crap after 4 years of undergrad.

I got horrible FA from Duke : /

I got into Stanford, that’s my #1 choice right now. I’m still waiting to hear back from JHU, Harvard, UPenn, Dartmouth, Brown, Columbia, Cornell.

So I most likely won’t be attending. I absolutely adore Duke. It was one of my top choices, but the FA just sealed the deal for me. : /

I’m still rooting for the Blue Devils in the FINAL FOUR!

I won’t be attending. I got into MIT and Rice, which were always tied as my top choice… so yeah.

One more spot for you guys? :)

Duke offered absolutely no aid, so I’m apprehensive. Right now its down to Yale (likely letter) and Rice (gave me a scholarship for full tuition). Don’t worry waitlisters, I highly doubt I’ll come to Durham.

does anyone know how many people got waitlisted
