Is AP Calc AB Difficult

I'm currently a Junior taking algebra 2 H, and will be taking Calc AB next year. I was wondering how hard the transition would be, and if the subject content is really that difficult. I'm not good at math to begin with, so that's why I was worried. I also don't want to go through pre-calc because I'd rather get started on college level math right now.

So is AP Calc really difficult or can it be understood easily with a little practice?

I'm also taking 3 other APs next year, and was wondering how you guys can manage time with so many AP classes. I took 2 APs this year, worked a job, and I never had free time to spare. So I'm a little worried about handling 4 APs, college apps and financial aid stuff all at the same time next year. I have a feeling my grades will start to slip

any advice?

Honestly, my AP Calc AB teacher is known as the best teacher in the school, so I easily earn around a 98% every quarter. HOWEVER, I also took pre-Calc last year, and I do have classmates who are seniors who have taken Honors Calc to prepare for this course. You are expected to have a certain level of knowledge to be successful in this class; my pre-Calc class was a combination of Trig and college algebra. Don’t expect to be successful with algebra 2 under your belt; everyone I know in AP Calc AB took algebra 2 in the eighth grade. I would highly suggest you buy the AP Calc AB review book over the summer and familiarize yourself with some of the basic concepts, like derivatives and the unit circle. I would also find out if you can get a pre-Calc study guide over the summer from a teacher at your school or the Internet to use before the AP Calc AB review book. Don’t walk in blindly.

I would say AP Calc doesnt really build on any past math classes…Calculus is like learning a new language. THe only thing I would say you should have is a good knowledge of Trigonometry and a good intuition. It won’t be that bad if you don’t have a crappy teacher

^agree. .
