I heard test questions are ambiguous, and this is my first AP, as I am a freshman… Thoughts?
The difficulty of the class is dependent upon the teacher. The difficulty of the exam depends on the individual student. IMO, the exam is pretty straightforward, but many people find that their first AP History exam is difficult, but their later ones are easier, since they’ve gone through the process once. I will also say that APWH has one of the lowest percentage of 5’s each year (approx ~6%), due, IMO, to the number of younger students taking the exam.
Thanks @skieurope
I took ap world my freshmen year too. Honestly, It was one of the most interesting classes I have ever taken. On the exam I ended up scoring a 4. However, a lot of people I knew ended up not even passing it all. I think this is just because we were younger and didn’t really understand how the whole Advanced a cement program worked and how much effort it requires. The test questions aren’t that difficult and as long as you keep up with your reading and do what your teachers says, then you have a pretty good chance of passing. My recommendation is try to actually care about the history and it will be a lot more engaging. Even if you struggle, this class will make you feel like a more informed member of your community and the world. Good luck!
Thank you! I love history, so I think I will do good @kristennl99
Just keep up with the work. History tends to build on itself, so don’t fall behind. Also, begin studying at least 2 weeks in advance and find some really good prep books (I always use Crash Course).
Thanks!!! @yonceonhismouth
There is a lot of material covered. Many students take it as a first AP as a sophomore and they just aren’t prepared for the time commitment it requires. One of my kids had taken APs a freshman and it was clear to her that her classmates didn’t appreciate how much of a step up in workload it was going to be over the easy freshman courses. My second kid, who had not taken any prior APs, spent an enormous amount of time on it in the fall, much more so than any other class, including the other 2 AP classes she took. I think one thing that is difficult for top students to adjust to is that you simply cannot learn all the material.
Thanks for your feedback! @mathyone
