Is applying as "multi-racial" better than apply as "Caucasian" or "Asian"?

Hi,

I’m half Asian, half Caucasian. My dream school has an acceptance rate below 15%. Caucasian and Asian are the two biggest ethnicity populations at the school (not unexpected).

I always thought I had to choose one or the other. However, after going to a information session at my dream school, I learned that its multi-racial population percentage is less than 5%.

If I apply as “multi-racial”, would that increase my chances at all? Or would it have the same effect as if I just chose one ethnicity?

Also, I understand there is no definite proof that admission officers have bias while choosing. However, it is very likely that race is taken under consideration.

I hope I don’t offend anyone by this discussion! :o

However, to get in such a selective school, I need all the help I can get.

This is quite a tricky question, multiracial talks about other races together than caucasian or asian so you can’t choose multiracial. If you do choose though I don’t think it will change that much based on your situation.
