Is bard the 'reed of the east'?

someone said that to me when they heard i got into bard. i loved reed (waitlisted) and wondering if they are very similar.

Both colleges are iconoclastic and seen as following their own paths. Reed seems more science-oriented, while Bard leans more toward the humanities, though Reed has produced many fine writers like Gary Snyder and Bard has recently invested heavily in science facilities and has a cool January program on “Citizen Science”. Also Bard has created numerous other schools literally around the world to advance its interest in improving the overall state of education, while Reed sticks to Portland exclusively. Both schools get less recognition from places like USNWR and (for Bard) CC, but they still attract a highly intellectual student body and make their students really grind academically. If there is an east coast college more similar to Reed than Bard, I don’t know what it would be.
