So I signed up for the Math 2 SAT and go the book for Barron's. I'm only in Algebra 2/Trig, and before reviewing anything I got a 640 on the diagnostic which seemed really bad. I am willing to spend hours a day learning the Math for the test in June, but I heard some people say that scoring in the low 700s in Barron's means you're pretty much set for a high score. Is this true? I of course am not going to stop studying until I consistently get every question right on practice tests, but I am wondering if Barron's really preps you that well. I heard that Princeton Review is actually closer in difficulty, so would that actually be better as it might be closer to the true difficulty of the test?

Barron’s indeed tests you well. You want something MORE difficult. Instead of looking at the scoring scales that are provided, aim for a 75-80% consistently on every test you take. The curve is a tad lenient (not as much as it is for US History, of course), so getting 80% on a difficult test like those provided in Barron’s would almost guarantee you 750+.
