I'm a RD applicant and they offered me to be wait listed
but however I wasn't sure if submitting the form to be wait listed is binding.
Also if you are wait listed does anyone know when you'll be notified?
Thanks

Wait lists are not binding. Not sure about RPI specifically, but notification time frame typically varies from May into he summer months.

Wait lists more and more are really mostly about the institution and not about the student. They are put in place to protect yield, but have bloated in recent years. Last year RPI offer wait list status to about 3700 students of which 2400 or so accepted to be on the waitlist. Of those…drum roll please…12 were accepted into RPI. It’s really an abuse of applicants by the institutions. If I were advising my son or daughter I’d tell them just to move on. Being wait listed impedes your ability to attach to the school that you eventually will fall in love with. Good luck!

Click the “Applying” tab on the left.

Agree with above poster. I doubt those 12 people they took off the waitlist were the first 12 they asked. I’m sure many many people even after accepting a place on it decide they will be quite happy going someplace else.

Did anyone hear any stats about the applicant pool?
I checked their website, and they list information about the class of 2012.
It seems they should have a post about how many applied vs how many applied in the previous year.

The application process at many schools appears to become crazier each year.

You can look at the common data sets for each year.

The press release on this year’s applicant pool should be out soon.

Last year, it was out on March 13. The year before on March 26.
