Is biology hard to get into at SDSU?

I’m planning to be a doctor so I wanted to apply for biology now, please help me by replying to this thread

SDSU is an impacted campus with all majors impacted meaning there are more qualified applicants than spots available.

SDSU has not published the # of Biology applicants vs admitted applicants for year 2018, but for 2017 the acceptance rate was around 33% for Biology specifically.

You do not have to be a Biology major if you are planning to go to Medical School. You can major in any subject as long as you take the Medical school course requirements to apply.

If you have around an EI of 4200+ SAT (CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math+EBRW), you can be competitive for SDSU. Much depends upon how you compare to all the other Biology major applicant’s EI’s. Also Biology is one of the most popular majors at SDSU, so you will have plenty of competition.

Think 3.8 GPA and 1200 SAT so, I’d say yes - but there are lots of other options.

tell us about your stats and we can help you find some viable targets.

3.65 and 1260 @NCalRent @Gumbymom

EI= (3.65 x800) + (1260)= 4180. An EI of 4200+ can be competitive however based on last year’s Freshman Class average stats, the average EI was 4408.

Freshman 2018 Averages:
Average high school GPA: 3.93
Average SAT score: 1264

SDSU is possible but will not be an easy admit.

i would say you are on the bubble. Be sure to apply broadly. CPP, CSULB and SJSU are worth a look.
