SDSU admits by eligibility index and major. EC’s and SAT subject test scores are not considered.
Your EI= (CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math+EBRW) so it is 4454. This EI puts you in a great position for an acceptance. If you are not invited to apply to the Honors College with an early acceptance in December, I suggest you still apply since the Weber’s Honor College opens up many great opportuntities at SDSU.
Best of luck.
@Gumbymom thank you. should I consider SDSU as a match or a safety in this case?
I would put it as a Low Match close to a Safety especially if you are able to increase your SAT score.
They told us at orientation that this years freshman had an average GPA of 3.71 and average SAT of 1208 so you look pretty good!
I seriously doubt that the average admission stats have gone down since last year. Here is the Freshman profile for 2017.
Freshmen
Average high school GPA: 3.87
Average SAT score: 1241
Average ACT score: 26.8
Since SDSU continues to receive more applications each successive year, I would expect the stats to remain the same or most likely even higher.
That said, the averages are also campus wide, but since each applicant is admitted by major and EI, the stats could be higher or lower than the averages for each major.
@Aneem00 you are a competitive applicant and you have a very good chance for an acceptance but Biology was the most applied Major at SDSU with over 6000 applicants.
@Gumbymom does my EI still put me in a good place for acceptance? Do you happen to have the stats for accepted biology majors at SDSU?
Yes your EI is competitive for Biology. SDSU does not publish their EI thresholds but the data I have collected from CC posters, puts the Biology EI range from 4100 (for some local in service applicants) up to 4800. You will be ranked in your major by your EI and they accept from the top down. Each year the threshold will change based on the # of applicants and their EI’s.
My niece was accepted in December 2017 with an EI of 4760 and an invitation to apply to the Weber Honors college as a 2018 Freshman.
@Gumbymom that’s wonderful, thank you. And my last question is if they have some sort of tie up with UCSD. Are there any transfer programs? For example I know that Santa Barbara City College has a connection with UCSB.
SDSU does not have any specific transfer agreement with UCSD since it is a Cal State and not a community college.
Santa Barbara City college is a community college and it does have transfer agreements with UCSB. Also UCSB is one of the UC campuses that honors the TAG agreements.
UCSD does not offer TAG for UC transfers.
Weird. My reply doesn’t seem to be going through. @Gumbymom just saying what they told us at the university orientation. I remember the numbers because was surprised because I thought it was more competitive to get in.
@crystallight: I will be interested in seeing what stats they post on their website once the Fall application opens. It was very competitive this year just based on the admits rates. Only time will tell and have a great Freshman year as an Aztec.
