I really want to go to Boston University, but I’d like to know from students exactly how good their classics program is.
Cost? What are your career goals with a classics major?

BU has a pretty decent program, though it’s always been stronger in archaeology than languages and linguistics. Alexander Nikolaev in the Classics program has done a lot of work in Indo-European linguistics, which seems relevant to your interests.
You should have at least two or three safety schools that you’d be content to attend. It’s an unfortunate reality that virtually all of the top schools for Classics and many of the best schools for linguistics are highly selective. There are a few less selective options, though. U Cincinnati comes to mind for Classics, and UGA has a good track record for Indo-European linguistics.
I have reach schools, and I have safety schools. I’m not naive :), I know it’ll be difficult to get into a school like BU or Colgate. My GPA is unweighted, and I’ve taken multiple AP and honors courses. My weighted GPA is around 3.60. I have letters of recommendation from professors (in departments relevant to my declared major) at multiple universities I’m applying to, I’m taking 8 courses next year and half of them are AP. I’m a member of my schools student government, and I have about 400 community service hours logged. I hold two editor positions on my schools newspaper and come from a diverse background. My projected SAT score is 1300 because when I took the PSAT I didn’t study at all. I already know BU is a reach, I just wanted to know how good their classics program is from someone who isn’t trying to get me to apply. 
And not sure if I mentioned this before, but I am taking Latin as an independent study language course.
