as an alternative to business administration

will this major cover all the courses required to get an MBA and will employers want bzn econs or is it looked down upon

and what kind of internships can one get with this major, same as bzn admin?

also heard somebody say business econ is for the bottom 10% of UCIs students

is this true or a joke since after bio and engineering, anything with business seems to be a good major

Your topic question is subjective but in regards to your questions,

There aren’t “courses” required to apply for the MBA. And of course employers like business econ. Half of them won’t even care if you have a bachelor in Biz econ or Biz admin.

You essentially can apply for the same internships as a bz admin can. However, the good thing about being in the biz admin major is that you can specialize in accounting, management, or marketing. This specialization will give students a leg-up over students with a biz econ major, with nothing else attached.

This is why many biz econ students MINOR in accounting or management or something. *Note that getting into these minors are pretty competitive, especially accounting.

You “heard” somebody say business econ is for bottom 10% of UCI? Not even close to being true… but even if it WAS true, so what? Just do well in your classes and stand out.

Looks like you’re gonna need to do some researching on your own though.

It is good that UCI has biz admin. It brings more employers for recruitment for other majors too. When they scout they will look for more than just biz admin majors. Any of the majors will get you the interview. It will come down to other factors than your major that will get you the job.
