right now i sort of want to go to UCLA because i heard it is a lot less competitive. Is this true for the most part, or is it just cal students trying to beef up their school's rep?

the latter

UCB students trying to beef up their school's rep.

definitely the latter.

thats funny, the cal forum says the opposite hahah

gee i wonder why....

in all actuality the two schools are pretty close to the academic equivalent of one another.

This is a rather difficult question asked by high school seniors who refuse to use the search function to realize that this question has been asked dozens of times. I especially hate those users who have to post the same questions like these on two different boards.

now, now. note his name "ccnoobstatus", hence, he is a noob. we were all once CCnoobs who didnt know the existence of the magical search function. and besides, posting on two forums provides a broader perspective instead of what might result in a biased and onesided perspective.

to answer the OP's question, in my opinion, ucla and berkeley are both similar in their standards. i would not say one school is harder than the other or that one school is better than the other. usnews may make it seem that berkeley is better/harder, but that is not necesarily true. both have their easy days and their hard days.

my bad guys. I am just very anxious to turn in my SIR for either LA or Berkeley. next time i shall use the search function. Thanks for replyin to some of my annoying posts.

BTW i love this site. Wish i had come across it earlier.

UCLA's academic schedule is more hectic because of the quarter system. You will always be studying for some test. It sucks.

^ I do not know about that. I would say I would be studying about a test every 2 weeks. I would say you will always be reading for every class.
However, the quarter system really does make the academic schedule hectic at UCLA like graduated31 says.
I would say it is the major that dictates the difficulty

cal is overall better...says who?

i say so..
