question for current cal students (gpa related)

is cal a lot harder than ucla? (science major-wise)

what's the average gpa there and do you regret going there with all the crazy competition

"is cal a lot harder than ucla? (science major-wise)"

No one really knows this answer except if it's based on statistics; it's not like someone attended Cal this year, and the UCLA the next.

"what's the average gpa there and do you regret going there with all the crazy competition"

It will not be a walk-in-the-park.

There are probably some people who transferred from one to the other, but I'm not aware of any on these boards. Expect it to be about the same. I've heard a few reports that Cal is harder than UCLA, but most things I hear make it sound like they're similar. Keep in mind one thing - quarters vs. semesters. Big difference.

For a crammer, UCLA would be easier probably since you have a month's wroth of stuff to cram at a midterm instead of 2 months.

I agree with DRab - I think the difference between semesters and quarters is all the difference in the world. Everything else - quality of teachers and GSIs, competitiveness of student body, etc. - is equal.

Can someone please thoroughly explain the pros and cons of the semester and quarter systems?
