I'm just wondering how much I can depend on Collegeboard as a resource for selecting colleges. I haven't been able to find information on who updates the site or how frequently or how accurate the information is. It seems like a really great tool however I'm not sure I can depend on it because some of the information seems a little out dated. Are there any similar sites out there that are better?

Also when looking for 'match' colleges should you be in their 'middle fifty' statistics range? i.e. should your SAT scores be in the middle fifty of the school's freshman scores?

Thanks :)

Some of the information can be wrong- I suggest browsing CB first and if you see a school that you're interested in, you should double check the information on the school's website.

For some reason, I've found Collegeboard to be wrong A LOT with available majors. A lot of the time they didn't list my major (education) when the school definitely had it.

I think a better option would be to grab a college guide like Fiske's. Then find the ones that you have a slight interest in and go on the college's website to get a more in depth look at it. Of course, visit if you can :]

A match school, unless it is in the top 20, is one where your GPA and SAT scores fall in their middle 50 percentile.
