Is Columbia engineering respectable?

I just got admitted to Columbia's electrical engineering masters program (woo hoo!). I feel very fortunate to get in, but I'm from California and I never hear anything about engineering at Columbia.

Are they good? What are they known for in engineering?

Yes, they are a very good school for engineering.

their unfunded students have really deep pockets. That’s what I know

Kekeke, children of Asian mainland billionaires on holiday in New York City, buying their MASTER’S degree from an IVY LEAGUE university, etc., etc.

Columbia University, the institution itself, is respectable, and you could use the institution’s reputation as employment leverage, as most do.

According to the USNWR, Columbia doesn’t have a top-ten program in any Engineering specialty.

Perhaps not (I can’t check) but if you want to use USNWR as your basis they have the engineering school as a whole ranked at #15, which I think qualifies for “very good”.
