The amount of money for grants per year I usually got at the university I went to for 2 years was a little over $3k or so. Will I get the same amount at a community college that I did at a university as long as my family income is the same as before, or will they give me less because it’s a community college?
Universities are typically more expensive than CCs. Amounts of aid change based on your income, your coast of attending and what you may be eligible to receive.
So the type of school I go to has 0 effect on how much I get?
No, I don’t think you understand.
If your university tuition is say $11,000 and you get aid of $8,000, then your cost is $3k and whatever else you need to pay for (room and board).
So if last year at your university, you received $8k and, your tuition at your currently CC is $500 per year, they are not going to give you $8k again. Costs of attending (COA) is absolutely crucial to your financial aid, no matter where you go. They are not going to overfund you.
Well of course I didn’t understand, that’s why I was asking. Thank you for your response.
Pell grants are consistent regardless of the school that you attend. If you were eligible for 3k in pell based on your EFC and you used it at a 4 year school as long as you are academically eligible to receive aid and provided your income/assets & EFC has not changed you will revive the same amount ifol to use at immunity college.
When you need is lower for a lower CoA school, your aid reduced.
