Is Cornell GPA out of 4.3 or 4.0?

I always assumed it's out of 4.0, since not every professor gives out a 4.3 (I consider it a bonus). But then I was talking to someone in career services, and they said technically it's out of a 4.3.

***? All the jobs I've been applying to, I put my GPA as XX/4.0.

Btw, I just looked at some sample resumes from Career Services (old Cornell resumes). Some of them are listed as XX/4.0

Now I’m even more confused.

If you have any A+'s then just recalculate your GPA replacing that class with a 4.0 instead. Or just don’t even put what your GPA is out of

Amen.

10 char

Yeah, I’d have to agree with the majority and say just put your GPA on your CV as like the number [ex. 3.55] and don’t put like 3.55/4.00.

Some teachers have the possibility of earning A+s and some don’t, so you would never call your GPA a 4.3. But, what some grad schools may end up making you do is recalculate your GPA and all of your A+s will only count as 4.0.
