Is Cornell like Hogwarts?

Yeah, Risley has a Hogwarts themed party every year I think. Well, Cornell is huge and always has new places you can discover, just like Hogwarts

The story I heard about Uris Hall is that the metal was supposed to rust, and turn a nice amber-red color within 20 years. Even though it's been 20 years, it hasn't finished yet, because they tested the rusting-rate of the metal in NYC, where there is a lot more pollution. Cornell's clean air is causing it to take at least another 30 years to complete its rusting process. What I find most ironic about this is that Cornell, a school with a highly esteemed graduate science program, forgot to control their variables in doing an experiment! (^^)

I had a similar post previously.

I was wondering what would be considered Gryffindor house and Cornell's quidditch.

ridonkulous, that makes sense. Ithaca is no NYC...lol

NOTHING is like Hogwarts!!

^ nice one!

Wow, you guys had a Harry Potter night in 2005? I'm envious. Here's to hoping they'll have something like that when I come there.

Also, is Arnot forest like the forbidden forest without the 10 foot tall spiders? And Cayuga lake is like the Hogwarts lake? And the War memorial looks just like a hallway in Hogwarts.

Risley's hogwarts night in 2005 was so amazing. People dressed up and everything.

YALE DIVIDES YOU INTO HOUSES?!

ugh, how LUCKY! i would always be day dreaming about yale and hogwarts if i went there...

Actually Princeton is very much like Hogwarts. You take a small train onto campus. The Gothic architecture resembles Hogwarts too. It's spectacular.

If I'm not mistaken, I think the Harry Potter Movies were shot at Oxford, So I'd say they're the most hogwarts-like college

Risley dining room was modeled after the same church that the great hall in the movies was filmed in.

no because if it was i would have left a long time ago =)

ahh yes, Risley is very hogwarts like with the great hall and everything (we actually call it that). The hogwarts party is off the hook (they even had potter puppet pals this year).

oh, and the thing with Uris being **** ugly, it was originally intended for U of Virginia @ richmond (where there is more pollution than Ithaca). The company that was building it was also constructing a building there and it got the 2 mixed up. Now they have one of our buildings and we have the eyesore called Uris Hall.

I feel odd posting in a thread bumped from months ago...

but I hope that Cornell does not have a celebrity who has a bunch of people trying to kill him. that would be rather stressful for the rest of us, yknow?
