The admissions essay specific to SFS at GU says "Briefly discuss a current global issue, indicating why you consider it important and what you suggest should be done to deal with it." I'm really interested in human rights and the situation in Darfur, but I'm worried that if I write about it, it'll sound like I'm trying to make myself look like a do-gooder, like I want to convince them that I'm a good person, instead of someone who's really interested in international affairs and global crises. Should I write about Darfur? If not, does anyone have any suggestions for what I should write about? Obviously, I want to write about something I'm genuinely interested in, but some suggestions would be helpful.

If you consider it most important and you can explain how YOU are planning on helping with it, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

PS. Nothing wrong with looking like a do-gooder.
