Is Dual Enrollment the best track for me?

I'm going to be a junior next month, and since my freshman year I have been on track to get my AA degree through a local community college and the dual enrollment program at my school. However, I have only been taking basic classes due to the fact that I was very uninformed by my guidance counselor. I have since made the descission that I want to go to UF to major in Health Sciences, but I am going to have to apply as a transfer student if I finish my AA. Because of this, I believe I will have to apply for my major straight away, but due to the fact that I was taking useless classes through dual enrollment I will not have all my prerequisites finished by this time next year. So I guess my final question is, will I be able to do an extra year or so to finish off my prerequisites at UF, or should I just stop working toward my AA and apply as a freshman?

I would like to add the I am planning on going to medical school after I complete my bachelors, not sure if that makes a difference

Hi! I am an going to be a senior next year and I remember going through my summer before junior year and wondering the exact same question. I took basic classes my freshman and sophomore year (just honors) and then went on to do dual enrollment but also taking a little bit more difficult classes at high school (some APs, physics, anatomy etc.- which would look good for UF health) and prerequisite classes at the community college. So, if you choose to take that route, you wouldn’t complete your AA, but you would just about finish your freshman year and maybe a little bit of your sophomore year of college. And that’s more helpful so when you’re in college you can take your time to complete the rest of your bachelors in 4 or 3 years and move on to med school! Personally, I know I want to go off to college as soon as possible and not spend an extra year in FL at a local community college but it really is up to you! Hope I helped :)
