I am considering applying Early Decision to WashU

However, as we do have some financial need, I am afraid of applying Early Decision in fear the financial aid package will not be enough. I had e-mailed the admissions office and they said that if the money is not enough, we are dropped out of the binding contract. However she said that they would increase the money if we say we can't afford it... I however have heard that this can have a lot of strings attached and just "dropping out" of the contract is harder said than done.

When we put our data into WashU net price calculator, the net price we saw there would have been affordable for us. But I am afraid if we apply and we do not get enough, we'll be stuck in a contract that is hard to get out.

So my question here is: is it worth applying to WashU if we still need significant financial aid, but according to the net price calculator, we would get enough money?
