The tittle says it all. I just read this post http://tuftsdaily.com/news/2015/01/20/record-early-decision-pool-marks-continued-pattern-selectivity/ by Lee coffin and it says out of 600 ed admits, only 70 were accepted from EDII. Is it worth applying or should I just go with RD.
Or do much less people apply ed2?
EDII tends to have the lowest application pool stats which could be another reason for low acceptance rate. So it could help you stick out.
ED2 is treated the same as ED1, just with a later decision date.
There are also fewer people who apply during ED2. The majority of people don’t think about their “second choice” university if they get rejected from their first. Also, if Tufts is your first choice, you probably already applied during ED1.
I agree MrDoctor, but I hear some people actually skip the ED1 deadline, and instead apply ED2 to their first choice, hoping to use the additional time to rack up better grades, test scores, etc. Given the relatively sparse numbers actually chosen for ED2, I wonder if this is a good strategy for those who opt for it. I have to imagine those people are already somewhat in the ballpark for ED1, and it makes more sense to just go for it then. If you have a 25 ACT score and a 3.2 GPA, not much is going to happen in 45 days to change that significantly. On flip side, I do think some students get so nervous about their ED1 chances, when they could be competitive, that they blow a really good chance for early admission by waiting.
