The only school we have received any cards (poster and m and m's too) from is Deerfield--we received mass email from another, and just the initial info from a 3rd. Since we only signed up to revisit the postcard school so far we were wondering if that triggered the postcards.

Uhm what is this m and m's? The only ones I'm familiar with are s for son and d for daughter. Sorry but I have this nuisance with people posting single letters.

To answer your question, I know that Deerfield sent postcards to mostly very strong accepted students that they badly want to come to their school. What does your postcard say? Is it from a current student giving you a brief description of the wonderful classes/facilities/academics of the school?

I think he means M & Ms like the candy.

i have received hand written notes from NMH, Loomis, and Exeter. i have also received multiple postcards and letters from students, teachers, alumni, etc from NMH and Exeter.

After being admitted to NMH last year, my son received handwritten notes from both his interviewer and the dean of admissions as well as several notecards from coaches.

I recieved a bunch of postcards and letters from the Dean of Admissions, the lady who interviewed me, the Dean of Students and several current students.

I haven't received anything from the 5 schools I applied to.

Wow, everyone's relieved nice little letters and stuff. That's really sweet. They must have really thought you were good applicants!

I got accepted to Exeter and Choate and I found out about those through the internet (since I'm an international). I got a big package from the two notes, but no notes or anything. :( Hehe, well anyway, the Exeter acceptance letter was so nice. It was typed and everything but it was so...like, "personal." It was actually addressed TO ME and wrote about some of my ecs and stuff. It made me happy. :D

but nothing handwrotten. sigh

I've received an e-mail from the Head of Admissions (who also happened to be my interviewer), a sweatshirt (!!!), three or four letters, and two phone calls since March 10th. They either reallyyyy like me....or take REALLY good care of those who get accepted.

i got a postcard.....-_-

WOW.
What school is that?

But really. WOW.
They must love you. Because sending sweatshirts to everyone accepted would probably take quite a bit of money. They probably send it just to the people that they adore, haha. And also, wow, phone calls? You're so lucky...

I got the package, and the package only.
woohoo for me.
sniffle

NMH is very good at followup. D too has received multiple pieces of mail, email, and calls from faculty including coaches. It has the desired effect, too, particularly the calls from coaches. She also liked the NMH stuff bag they sent with the acceptance package.

ickleronniekins, I did in fact get a letter saying I was a "Top Ten Applicant" with the sweatshirt. However, I think they probably do all of the above except the sweatshirt/letter to most applicants.

risingjunior- where?

I got a bunch of calls from one school. Also, they asked a former student who I knew, to call me and encourage me to attend.

yeah risingjunior, what school was that from? that's really good by the way about top 10!

Well, I kind of don't want to say because I know if I had been accepted into the school, I would kind of be upset if I HADN'T gotten that. Although it's my favorite school and was before, I think they should tell you that after we decide. But, I just looked at some of your posts and you three don't seem to be looking at the school, so I'll message you.

I may have posted it somewhere. I hope not. I got really excited when I got it but looking back, posting that may not be the smartest thing.

Oh, yes, NMH also had a former and current student send a letter, as well as the parents of a current student. We also received several coaches' calls (these had been ongoing before the actual acceptance). And, people like me act as volunteers to call parents of accepted students and answer any questions they might have.
I'd say they are pretty good at follow-up.

We received a T shirt and a week later, a phone call from a parent of a current student from one school, and a baseball cap and a call from our interviewer from another school.

It really depends on the school. I truly don't think it's "how much they like you."
NMH is the most "aggressive" with admissions - I don't mean that in a bad way, they have a very thought out clear plan. For the last TWO years (my son attended a "recruiting" meeting 2 falls ago) we've been getting (until around Feb of this year) a post card every few weeks from them. About arts, sports, whatever (this was a year before he even set up a interview). It's a plan to keep them in your thoughts. So, it does not surprise me one bit that they continue it after acceptance.
Based on how it make applicants feel, it's a great strategy.
