I was very surprised when today in the mail I received a tube from Deerfield. Inside were green and white M&Ms and a poster of a gorgeous view. Yay for bribery!

Has anyone else received similar things from other schools?

I got a blanket!

From where??

I also got a pin from Deerfield and a bumper sticker from Hotchkiss...

bumper stiker from hotchkiss

letter from varsity lax coach at Exeter

huge poster that came inside of a tube from Groton

Letter from head tour guide from Colorado from Andover

Call from Middlesex and communication with head of department

pendant from Governor's

Call from Brooks

Bumper ---> HK
That mm thing ---> DF
Handwritten letter ---> Andover
Milton ---> Consistent communication
Peddie ---> Rejection
Exeter ---> Hand written note
Sps ---> Heart warming phone call

A lot of this is customary, as opposed to bribery.

In that note from Exeter, though, it said their would be a gift card for the book store.

Um. I haven't gotten anything?

Here's my official list:
Deerfield----->pin, tube with M&Ms and poster
Hotchkiss----->bumper sticker, blue folder
Exeter----->red folder with silver ribbon, 09-10 course catalogue, coupons for Exeter apparel
Middlesex----->personal e-mail from admissions director, letter from head of school, call from student to ask if we had any questions

Groton freaking personalized my waitlist letter. I wasn't very happy, seeing that they liked me enough to take the time to personalize my waitlist letter, but not to accept me.

I know it's not really bribery, but it's fun to pretend it is. :P

Oh. That counts? I've always thought that was customary. For Andover I got a note from the Dean of Admission and a postcard from my interviewer. I wore the ribbon from Exeter in my hair on friday. :D

pinkheart, I don't think that your waitlist was personal. I'm just assuming this, because the letter from Mrs. Giles at Middlesex was not personal. It was generic. They stick your name in here or there, but it's not personal...

My waitlist from Groton was personal...the dean of admissions sent me a handwritten note talking about my abilities and how they were going to try to find me a place...I really liked Groton, so it made me sad that they would write such a letter, give me a hope when I had to let the others know my answer before the waitlist info would even come out...

What about the letter from Ms. Giles from Middlesex? I thought you were accepted there...

Great for you pinkheart. Have you decided which school you are going to?

It's coming down to Exeter, Hotchkiss, and Deerfield.

I had to eliminate Middlesex because my parents would only let me revisit at 3.

I was accepted there.

You say for Middlesex...

"personal letter from head of school"

If I am thinking of the samee letter you are, it is not personal. I received a letter from Ms. Giles congratulating me on being accepted, but it was generic...

Whatever though! We're in!

Oh...you're probably right.

Are you going to Middlesex? It's seemed to be constantly your favorite throughout this entire process...

Did you not apply to Andover? Why?

Pinkheart, you're in at Deerfield! Niceee. I heard that it was extremely selective this year.

BTW, I went to Andover today. I walked around the campus with my dad. Simply, it's sick. It took me like 20 minutes to walk from Abbot Cluster to the hokey rink by Phelps Stadium.

thingslost--who are you addressing?

I did not apply to Andover. I visited and decided it wasn't for me, so didn't continue with the application process.

You. :D As in pinkheart23. Sadly, I won't be able to go to revisit days.

Yeah, I thought Andover was nice and all, but it just didn't feel right. But I still think that it's a great school, and I've heard the new commons is AMAZING!

Instead of revisits, re-read view books, scope out websites through and through, and solicit any suggestions from people who have experience with any of the schools. I'm sure you'll make the right decision! :D
