Is Geometry important for being a surgeon?

I wanted to know.

Well, you need it as a prerequisite for Algebra II, precalc, and calculus. And calculus is a prerequisite for med school.

Offhand you don’t NEED geometry…but there will be a lot harder courses that you need to take in med school.
If geometry is a problem, I’d reconsider my career choice.

i’d hope my neurosurgeon could handle geometry

I want my leg to point to the right way when the surgery is done.

Geometry is largely logical thinking. Logical thinking is very important for medicine and also for many other careers.

Well, you do need it for the MCAT…

I think you should take it. I did not and did not do well in math later on. On the other hand I scored a 750 on the GRE math section and did not have any issues in medical school, residency, fellowship or in practice because of a lack of geometry skills. However, as I often say, do as I say not what I did.

Geometry is a high school basic. If you can’t get an A in it odds of making it through calculus in HS then ranking in the top 10-20% of your classes in college are long odds. And if you’re not top 10-20% in college, no med school.
