I believe that Hamilton is at the right academic level for me, but I was curious if I would fit in.

I'm a white female from Issaquah, WA (near Seattle). I'm liberal, but not the flaunting, in your face type. I'm somewhat of a homebody so I don't think I'd get bored in tiny Clinton. I enjoy outdoor activities, especially kayaking.

Is the student body liberal, conservative, or a mix? Also, are the students competitive or are they friendly?

You'd be fine there. The overall politcal barometer is somewhat left of center, but it is not among the most liberal schools overall. The faculty is liberal. Outdoor activities are popular. Clinton and the environs are not much of a factor one way or the other. Life centers on campus, and if you like the atmosphere on campus, you'll be happy.

I agree with Willow55 in every regard. I loved Hamilton when I visited and I would compare the atmosphere being similiar to Whitman College which you may be familiar with since you're from Washington. Hamilton is a little bigger than Whitman and the town is alot nicer than Walla Walla. You are also closer to some biggger areas such as Syracuse and Albany. Hamilton is a beautiful campus with top notch facilities. Also, you're only 1/2 hour from Colgate, whcih you should visit as well if you go see Hamilton. Good Luck.
